It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park 2025

An afternoon of community and celebration
Sunday, October 19th, 3-5pm (with after-party at Rojo)


Join us for a porch crawl through historic Highland Park! Mosey through participating Highland Park businesses, porches, and yards while enjoying live music, light refreshments, an historical scavenger hunt, and neighborly camaraderie!
Event is rain or shine.
Historic or other costumes encouraged!
Bring your own cup to cut back on waste.

100% of proceeds and donations will benefit Friends of Highland Park, Birmingham Historical Society, and Alabama Audubon.

Visit stops in any order, although we recommend starting at Birmingham Historical Society (H) to pick up a scavenger hunt.

A – Clubhouse on Highland – 2908 Highland Ave
Enjoy some front porch sittin’, lemonade sippin’, and live music by Steve McKinney all while learning about this home’s history.

B – Donnelly House – 2838 Highland Ave
Enjoy light refreshments on this Highland Park front porch while learning about the home’s history.

Enjoy light refreshments in this Highland Park backyard garden while learning about the home’s history.

Enjoy live music by The Starlings and light refreshments on this Highland Park front porch while learning about the home’s history.

E – Harris and Warner Houses (aka “Sister Houses”) – 2731 Highland Ave
Enjoy light refreshments in the front yard of these recently purchased Highland Park beauties and share ideas of what they could be in the future while learning about the homes’ histories.

F – Enslen House (Snable Law Firm) – 2737 Highland Ave
Enjoy live music by Zach Austin and Justin Oliver (of the Stepdads) and light refreshments on this Highland Park front porch while learning about the home’s history.

G – Highland Terrace Condos – 2819 Highland Ave
Enjoy live music by Collage and light refreshments in this Highland Park courtyard while learning about the building’s history.

H – Birmingham Historical Society – 2827 Highland Ave
Pick up a Highland Heritage Hunt, a scavenger hunt in which you’ll search for hidden artifacts while visiting the participating homes. Turn your completed hunt back into BHS for the chance to win a prize! BHS will also have a new exhibit on display of house types that parallels their book Birmingham Homes: A Guide to Architectural Styles. Tour this non-profit responsible for researching, publishing, and promoting the history and heritage of HP. You can also learn how to research a home’s or apartment’s history and how to get a Jefferson County marker or purchase one of their books on Birmingham, including It’s Nice to Live in Birmingham, a reprint of the 1963 classic that launched our city’s motto.

I – Greenbriar at the Altamont – 2831 Highland Ave
Enjoy live music by Chris Caswell Rice (aka BrassWell) while exploring Greenbriar’s beautiful courtyard and lobby.
BrassWell, is a trumpeter, vocalist, and entertainer who brings a fresh, fun twist to New Orleans–style Dixieland jazz. His latest project, “Hear Me Out,” is available now. BrassWell performs regularly at Rougaroux Restaurant and Hit Different Grill.

Mosey on next door for a peek at what the Audubon Society is doing for Alabama’s birds!

J – O’Henry’s Coffee – 2915 Highland Ave
Grab some coffee to keep up momentum as O’Henry’s is open late until 7pm.

K – Rojo After-Party – 2921 Highland Ave
At 5pm, make your way over to Rojo for live music from 5-6:30pm by Sonny Pritchett and Nancy McLemore.
