Southern Area Proposed Re-Zoning Public Hearing Wednesday 11.5.25, 5pm
City Council Chambers, 3rd floor at City Hall at the Birmingham Planning Commission Mtg.

MORE IMPORTANT DETAILS & HP Zoning Committee’s Recommendations HERE
The Birmingham Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to receive comments regarding the Southern Area Communities Rezoning Plan. If you’re a property owner in the area, you should have received a notice by mail last week (see above notice).  RED MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY’S (Redmont Park, Highland Park, Forest Park-South Avondale) MAP is here.  You can also view the proposed rezoning maps by visiting the Department of Planning, Engineering & Permits, located on the 5th Floor at City Hall, Monday-Friday  from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

This hearing is the first step in the multi-step public hearing process. After this meeting, there will be two additional hearings—one with the City Council’s Planning and Zoning Committee, and a final one before the City Council. The City Council is who makes the final decision on the proposed rezoning. Property owners will receive another notice in the mail before that public hearing.

Planning staff is available to help so if you have any questions prior to the upcoming public hearing, please give us a call at (205) 254-2479.  If you would like to submit comments, please email them to us at BhamPlanning@birminghamal.gov.

Community Table and Bake Sale at Episcopal Place on Friday, 11.7.25 11 am-3 pm
Many people who live here are low-income and will be affected by the suspension of food stamps for the month of November. Residents will rent a table and will sell their own stuff at each table. Additionally, we will have a table for the bake sale and all proceeds will go towards our fund for the residents.
